About us
“Zgura-M” is a medical centre with a various number of medical specialists providing healthcare services (such as screening and prevention campaigns) and consultation and training on health prevention and nutrition to its patients.
In addition we are providing a number of customised services to people with disabilities and elderly.
Up to this moment in our activities we have involved more than 8562 diabetics, 10% of them are children, 2000 people with disabilities and elderly and 453 women with breast cancer and other people with oncological and urological problems.
The actions undertaken to achieve this mission can be summarised in the following activities:
- Health status monitoring (provided by own medical centre, see below)
- Prevention and Health care training
- Nutrition advices
- Life long learning initiatives and training (e-learning and Open Distance Learning)
- Mentoring schemes aiming to increase employability
- Provision with specific aid equipment
Since 1997 we have been implementing both national and international projects under the aegis and financial support of the Leonardo da Vinci and Socrates programmes of the European Commission which aim at contributing to the social, educational and labour integration of disabled people in Bulgaria. Zgura-M has considerable experience both as a promoter and a partner in these European initiatives. As a result of our activities we managed to set up an extensive network of partners with which we cooperate, such as universities, local authorities, training institutions, and pan-European end user organisations.
Our experience composes of innovation and introduction of new approaches for the education, training and labor realization of people with disabilities. The result we seek is achievement of lasting improvement of the quality of services for disabled people.
“Zgura-M” also has a close connection with the business sector through employers networks with more than 100 members, and a good collaboration with end users (elderly people and disabled groups) as well as with Universities and Scientific Research Departments.
Additionally, Zgura-M is one of the founding members of the Bulgarian NGO Marie Curie Association.
